Default Broken Hood Release

Thde hhod release is broken on my '87. I've read how to trip the latch on the driver's side, do I have to go under the passenger side as well?

Yup.
Now, you'll want to install some emergency release cables:

Or you can buy/make the hood release tool:
|
___________________________v____________ __|
|
Dimensions:
-left end is 1 1/2" deep
-distance from left end to "v" is 12 1/2"
-distance from "v" to handle end on right end is 6"
-handle on right end is 4" long
-material is 3/16" steel rod
Procedure:
-Open the door and insert the short end over the weather strip block near the upper door hing to the "v".
-Work the short end down into the latch mechanism
-Rotate the handle to release the latch
-Prop the hood open a bit and go the the other side to release the other latch

I purchased mine from MAM years ago when my latches needed adjustment and would not release the hood pins and it works very well.
