Default 91 Coupe Audio Rewire

Hey guys, just read through this: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/audi...audio-faq.html

But it doesn't seem to answer the question I have. I bought my 91 with an aftermarket head unit (Alpine) but stock Bose speakers. Everything worked properly except the fade/balance controls on the head unit. I am in the process of replacing the Bose system with a complete aftermarket system. I'm currently running new speaker wire for all 4 speakers.

Can I use the Illumination, Ground, Antenna, Power, and Ignition that the old Alpine unit was connected to?

Yes if it worked with the alpine unit however in a pinch for the illumination wire you can use the ac control light wire above the unit.

Thanks. There's also a very thick wire back there that was plugged into the old unit. Not sure what it is or if I need it. I know the guy before me had satellite radio wired into it.

So not really necessary I'd assume? Could have been for the satellite radio, just wanted to make sure before I put everything back together and found out I needed it.

It would have or should have been for your Alpine unit to receive AM/FM so unless you dont want to receive FM/AM no its not necessary. No the XM/Siruis wire would be a electronic plug connecter that specifically would plug into the back of your Alpine unit from the XM/Sirius brain unit. It would not look like that. GC
