Jacking-up a C4
Any other options for a floor jack adaptor for the rear-end? Just purchased a low-profile jack from HF, but need some way to get the entire rear of the car raised evenly.
Thanks!!

Seriously, I know the adapter you're talking about (and I think it was the Gadgetman who made it). Let me see if I can remember what it's called.....

FWIW, if you can get to the pumpkin with a floor jack, use a block of wood. I've jacked on the pumpkin but I don't have the pipes in the rear to deal with. How about a 2x4 with "legs" to stradle any piping?

Jack it up like any other car and throw some jack stands under it.

It was high enough in this picture to get the exhaust and rear end out with plenty of room to spare.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

That you tried jacking the rear by the pipes --or--
That they don't crush/collapse under the weight!

but could you explain your ide a little more ?

I picture something like a piece to sit under the pumpkin, two "feet" that drop below the pipes, and another piece to connect those legs?
If not, maybe you can use a 5-6" piece to go up thru the exhaust -- like the tool pictured by Mr. Mojo?
IOW, get creative.
How about a 2x4 with arms to reach up to the axle? Maybe even double-thick for strength? Cut "V" shape in arms to pick up the axle.
Keep thinking....

It's pretty easy to fabricate one. The part you don't see is the round pipe welded to the bottom that slides into the hole in your floor jack. I made an adapter out of some 1x3 rectangular box steel, with a top and bottom plate, and the pipe on the bottom. If you don't have a welder, someone should be able to make one up for you for not too much money.
A piece of wood resting on your floor jack is not safe IMHO.
