Default Window regulator upgrade

Just want to let everyone know .I just finish instally the driver side window regulator motor upgrade.
I will do the passeger side tomorrow. Iam very please with the outcome.

One thing is very extrange. My 1986 vette. Came with the old rebbon window regulator.

This is secure to door with 2 screew on top one in bottom.

On the istalation instructions I found on the internet. It say i will have to drill an extra hole under the door. Because the new regulator have 4 screew 2 on top and 2 on bottom


The funny thing is my doors all ready have the second hole.. Can some one explain this to me???.

How come this doors all ready have the necesary holes to install the window regulator upgrade?????

Maybe your door has been replaced over the past years with a door from a later year C4.

Dont think so. Maybe if there was only 1 door but the 2 door have the holes from factory

Seems like my '85 also had the predrilled holes but I had to oblong them to adjust the window. The passenger side was done by the PO and the window didnt strike the weatherstrip correctly. Be careful with yours too.

i did my 84 and had to drill 2 holes, maybe in 86 gm was looking at the changeover in advance,and had all the doors ready for either setup. not sure but didn't early 86 use ribbon and later use the new design.

I did the window regulator upgrade on my '86 and the holes were already there. I didn't have to drill any holes.

I install today the passenger side. Since i had the driver side experience. Only took me an hour and 30 minutes to doit.

I discover. That the original window motor arein good shape. Just need to be clean and grease up. They work just fine.

I can give them away. Toany body that need them. The thing is iam in panama central america. You will have to come by and pick them up. Because i know the shipping will be veryexpencive.
