Looking around here at pictures, I noticed a particular C4 I believe that had the carbon fiber dash overlay. It looked impressive to say the least. I have a perfectly intact dash, however I really like the CF...... and some of the Burl wood overlays. Which brand comes to mind as being the best quality?
Not really answering your question but imo wood overlays make corvettes look like grandpa cars. Yea they are nice in cadillacs but not in a performance vehicle. Next you might as well put wood trim on the ouside and a surfboard on the top. Classic 1 of 1 woody corvette...
Look its your Vette.....you do what appeals to you. I went thru the exact thing you are going thru now with the exception that my dash was in sorry shape. I put the burlwood overlays on it......
I decided to replace my whole dash with new coverings. I do however love the look of carbon fiber so what I did was put a carbon fiber shift **** as a little personalization touch. I know it sounds like a minute puny detail but I love it!!
As much as I love it I think all carbon fiber would be overwhelming. Better than any of the wood overlays though!!! But as I said....do what appeals to you. Remember.....If your dash is in good shape and intact there is no going back if you dont like the look of the Carbon Fiber once its installed. Also if you do decide to get a kit...Trust me...take off the peices and put the overlays on in a well it table( and not at 11:30 pm when your on your last nerve!!!!) ...dont try to mount the overlay with the dash peices in place. The glue that is on the overlays is WICKED STICKY!!!! once its down...your F'd......no readjustments!!!! Good Luck.
I purchased my 1990 Vert and it already had the Wood Dash Overlay as well as the center console and the door panels - I added the Wood Shift **** and Tan Leather Shift Boot. I like it on my particular color combination (Polo Green Metalic with Saddle Interior) on my car. And the overlays are real wood, not cheap plastic imitation:
