C4 steering rack application
I'm having trouble identifying the steering rack on my '89 Vette (it's leaking badly). The research I've done says there should be either an "FH" or an "NS" stamped on the dust cover. Niether one is there. However, "PA" is clearly stamped, as is an "H". The part number stamped on the housing is 08182. The car has 17" wheels. Does anyone have any experience with this, or know if there's another way to determine which rack I need...aparently there are two available on this model.

AFAIK there is a "sport" version that is 2 turns lock to lock and the other is the standard which is more than 2.5 turns. Just check yours to see if it's 1 full turn to lock in either direction and order the right one - or just get the quick ratio one if you want to really enjoy the car.

Another option is for you to send your leaky unit out for a rebuild. I sent mine to Turn One in Saginaw, Michigan, and I have been very pleased with the results. Not cheap, but well worth it in my opinion. Dave
