Hey all its my first post, and I am in the market for my first Vette, which leads me to a question for all you Vette owners. How far would you go to get your first Vette?
Thanks in advance,
Matthew

I drove from upstate NY to Maryland to pick up my car.
I had a C4 shipped from NY to FL, and a ZR-1 shipped from CA to FL. Both sight-unseen. All depends on your tolerance for risk, your willingness to fix problems, and your budget.
I'm in CT. When I was looking I had two cars lined up at the same time. One was in Illinois and I had a 3rd party company perform a thorough inspection with 100 pics and a full PDF mechanical report. The other was in south New Jersey which I test drove personally.
I was just about to purchase the IL car (I would have flown out and drove back) when the NJ seller called and offered me a deal I couldn't refuse. 4 hours round trip. The rest is history....
Depends on your finances, how much time you can be away, etc. I flew 700 miles to drive a 95 home. Before you go too far pay a licensed mechanic to give it a pre-purchase inspection.

Check out Craigslist in the Hawaiian islands. Several Vettes for sale there that you could ship home!
I was there in 2004 and met a guy with an 84. He told me that it had cost him $800 to have his car shipped from California to Maui on a roll-on roll-off ship.
I flew to Kansas City, MO (2000 miles) to buy my C5 and drove it home between Christmas and New Years. I just flew to LA (450 miles) to buy my 91 earlier this month. I live 30 miles south of San Francisco.
Mine was in south Fl. I live in central Fl. about 2 1/2 hours away. I found it on E-bay on my lunch break called the guy took the rest of the day off went to the bank and the rest is history. 1990 vert with 29000 miles.
