this is my first post , because this is my first corvette . I have a 93 corvette convertible , the fuse for the power antenna ,bose amplifier ,cargo light and dome light they are on the same circuit . The fuse will blow if I have the cargo lights pluged in. It hums a little bit . I don't know what lights are suppose to come on when you open the door .
it has a hum that comes from behind the glove box. i just picked up the car sat. and i havent really had time to fiddle around with it. i dont know what lights are ment to come on when the door opens. right now no lights come on and the cargo lights are unpluged. sounds like it may be a bad door jamb switch, becauce the driver door does not cause the cargo lights to come on. the passenger side does and thats when it will hum and blow a fuse. but i dont think it is in the cargo lights because the first night she was home i had my dash dimmer all the way up whitch means that interior lights wound be on, the cargo lights were on and thats how i discovered the problem.

Are there any after market accessories that might be using the same circuit?
Do you have a digital volt meter? Take the fuse out and plug in the meter. Set it to test the amps. See how many amps it reports when you replicate what causes the problem. Post your results.
Anything else that you can report that might help, let us know.

A wiring diagram would be very helpful to you. A set of FSM's might be a good investment. Get the red 2 book set ones.
You are blowing fuse 37 right? The left hand courtesy fuse?
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND INSTALLING A DVOM set in amps. in series with that circuit. It is supposed to be a 20A fuse. My Fluke blows at 10A and so do most meters. Fuses for Flukes, new meter for cheapies, cost money. So bad idea.
That fuse powers up EVERY Bose Speaker AMP. You probably have at least one bad amp. hence the humming. Each speaker has the amp. as part of the speaker assy. They do fail it is fairly common.
Turn the radio off, replace fuse and see if lighting works. You may need a new switch on the drivers side as you noted. If the lighting works, great. I bet the fuse will blow when you turn on the radio.
thanks for all of the info. i did not know every speaker had a amp. as for after market items, there are none. when i looked at the car the owner told me he did not know what was wrond with the radio and antenna. the radio would turn on but it had no sound and the antenna would not go up. one funny thing is that the radio turns on with out the key, like old school or something. there was a couple of fuses in the glovebox that night when i got the car home. makes me wonder a little bit, but the previous owners dont not seem in any way to try to pull one over on me. with the cargo lights unpluged the radio and antenna work fine other than not having to have a key in the ignition. i will keep you posted and thanks for your imput. very helpfull!!! one more thing is i am glad to be here, this is my first vette and im stoked!! i sold a bmw z3 for this. i did not fit in with that crowd.

I wonder if you door switch is causing a problem. The Delayed Accessory Bus DAB could be as well. You are only supposed to have power to the radio for 15 minutes after key off, and NO door open. Maybe you have it all the time. Hmm....
I would get investing in a FSM, there is a section just for this.
hey you guys; no the windows do not work wiyh the keys out. the DAB you spoke of rubie was very informative! i tryed the stereo does not turn on now that i tryed it a while after the car was off. i do not have a digital volt meter but that is a must i suppose. this is just the first problem i decided to post. the rear speakers are not working very good and by what ive seen here and other forums it very well maybe the bose amps. this issue is not to important right now as i have discovered yet another problem, the head light bushings, go figure!! i watched a you tube video on this issue and i believe that is going to my first project. i will post pics. of my new baby before to long. im excited to here and a vette owner, expescially a c4 black convertable!!!

Pug, I would suspect from your post that when PO installed the new CD deck they hardwired it direct to your battery. This is not a good practice with the bose system. They should have removed the bose system entirely - deck, amps, speakers etc then installed the new deck with a new harness, new speakers that do not require an amp to run. I would start by ripping out all your stereo equipments and doing it the right way. The set up you currently have will drain your battery and kill it eventually as well. Rip it out, replace with new, replace the fuses see how you it works.
this is all the factory unit . Rubie 40 turned me on to the dab system and that is functioning fine . I do believe it is 1 of the amps in the speakers . seems to be a common problem .

It was a thought...I'd check into the amps. Good Luck with your new C4.
thanks for all the ideas and informitive help. ive allready got a new little problem to tackle. found a few drops of antifreeze on the garage floor today. wondering if the LT1 water pump leaks through the seal like older pumps do. have not put her on a lift yet, but i know i can get help here. you guys rock! glad to be a part of it.
