Default select ride control

On my newly purchased 1992...
Upon cold start-up I get the "Service select ride control soon" light. But if I cycle the key once it goes off never to come on again while driving. Then the next day on the first crank (initial start up) it came on again. I cycled the key once again and it goes off and will not come on again until it's started the next day. Again it won't come on again as long as the car is being driven. Today i went out and it never came on at all.
Any simple idea's where to start?
Thanks in advance
Smokey

First thing I would try is to clear the codes, and then see if if happens again. (I'm assuming you read the codes already.)

No haven't read the codes as of yet. Does the 92 still use the OBD II? using an ALDL connector or just jumping A to C with a jumper?

It will also come on if you start the car three times without the car moving. I would just clear the codes and keep an eye on it.

You can jumper the connector. Do a search for "paper clip" method.

Thanks guy's!
Yea, just found out it's the same old OBD II with using the ALDL to see the codes. When I get home I'll check it out and see what I find. Yes! I have started the car with out moving the other day and possibly that's it. Thanks for the info on that one. Damn who woulda thunk it....LOL
I'm familiar with the older OBD II as my 89 Chevy Dually uses the same system. (OBD II)

Disconnect the battery for a short time (can't remember how long but a minute should do it).
