1993 40 year car
Hi all I am new to this forum and have come across a 1993 anniversary car in black, auto , with all avail opts incl hremovable hard top.. The car has under 2,500 documented miles and has always been in a climate garage.....I am seriously considering buying this but not sure what the car is worth... Any input would be greatly appreciated

There are no black 40th Anniv. Corvette's. True 40th Anniv. Corvettes were painted 'Ruby Red' with matching 'Ruby Red' leather interiors. They also had the 40th Anniv. emblems on the front fenders (clamshell as it may be) and throughout the car. Just because a Corvette was produced in 1993, doesn't make it an Anniversary car.
This is one of 1,275 40th Anniv. convertibles produced. Note the color:
Note that even the center caps on the rims are 'Ruby Red'! (and I love this car! Even the top is 'Ruby Red'!)
I often see 1993 Corvette owners attempting to sell their 93's as 'Anniversary' cars and their not.
Attempt to sell a 93' as an Anniv. car (not!)

A true 40th Anniv. in SF Bay Area. Note the color of the interior.

So you have to price this car out as a very low mileage 93' and I'd venture to guess $13K to $16K, because any higher than that and you start looking at decent C5's (1997-2004). The low miles makes it somewhat unusual, in a few different aspects. First, if it has the original tires, it's not all that safe to drive on rubber that old.
Secondly, do you want this as a garage paperweight? Are you going to go the Bloomington Gold route and drive it very, very little? Or is it just going to be the nice Corvette you've always wanted?
What's he asking for it?

Sounds about right, $13-16k
All 93's are anniversary however only the Ruby cars have the RPO Z25 Anniversary Package. Yes I've owened 4 Ruby ZR-1s and I still have two... This is a never ending debate...

Hi again , I was told there were 2 special ordered cars in black.. again corvettes are new to me.. but I was wondering where I could confirm this... it has the badging , which could have been added, and he has the window sticker.. not sure if that mentions the anniversary on it as I have not seen it yet.... Could this be checked via the vin???

HUH? John Hekking's one of one now is a one of two???? What was the RPO code John had? All the 93 year cars had the 40th anniversary embroidery on the seats but as mentioned there were no other colors but ruby red. Any badging would have been added after the fact. Does it have 40th badges on the fender?
At any rate, the car will be like new with the 2.3K miles but may have issues from sitting and not being used. If he ran it and moved it around a little on a regular basis this may not be a big deal but if it just sat you may have seal leakages. The climate controlled garage will help with everything too. The pricing mentioned is about right.
Good luck and post pics if you score it.

Any other 93' would just be another late C4, I don't care what the headrest says.

And thanks for the enlightenment and entry to the debate, but if I was going to buy a REAL 40th Anniversary Corvette, it had better be a Ruby Red car with a Ruby Red interior, the correct RPO and all the associated badging, center caps, etc.

Seems like everyone is eager for their C4 to be special and unique. I had a guy tell me this week that his '84 had an L88 with Crossfire injection in it. When I tried to spare him embarassment, he wanted to argue. You'd thinking owning a 'vette would be enough. Mine's unique, too- it's the only '86 I have a title to.

If it ain't Ruby, it ain't an Anniversary Edition....no matter what some shyster wants you to believe in order to get your cash.

Okay, why is it special ? Because of the fender emblems? Did GM actually put these on without doing the hood and gas lid too, as all Ruby Red RPO Z25 anniversary hood and tank lids were silver, not black..

Sorry, if it's a 93 corvette with leather interior, it IS an aniversary car (All 78's are aniversary cars too). Even if it doesn't have the Z25 40th Aniversary package. There's a reason they put it on the seats (probably to start arguements in bars/forums). I guess you could make the arguement that the seats are the aniversary editions, and that the car is not......

Apples and oranges.
I believe 93 was the last year you could get cloth seats too.

Either way with 2500 mi on it sounds like an opp to drive a "new" C4.
Right price go ahead and grab it.
So what if it needs a few things better than something thats old and worn out and dealign with complete rebuilds.

Enough. If it's not Ruby Red, It's NOT a true 40th Anniversary car. End of story.
