Default lt-1 engine problem

I just pulled my 93 out of the shed after approx 10 years.. I changed the fuel & pump & it took a longtime to start but finally did. It,s running ver poorly. It seems to be missing. I put new spark plugs in w/no change in the performance. Any help would be appreciated.

how about fuel filter? could be gummed up with old gas. change the filter then run some fuel cleaner to help clean up the injectors

It seems that fixing anything on a corvette is a little tricky. Replacing the spark plugs was a real chore! I,ll get after changing the filter. Do you recommend cleaning the injectors with a cleaning kit or just add sea foam / lucas etc. to the tank?

Today I completely drained the fuel tank again & did a major inside cleaning of it.I also changed the fuel filter, now I can check those off of the list. I poured seafoam into the brake vacuum hose while running to clean the injectors. It is still running bad, like it,s not running on all cylinders. There are no codes showing. Maybe it,s the injectors? I can,t afford to change all of them now so how do I check them to see if they are o/k? THNX

Running Seafoam thru the vac hose does not do anything for the injectors, but would only clean the combustion chambers. You have to add it to the fuel in order for it to pass thru the injectors. A set of refurbished Bosch injectors from FIC will run you approx $170 for all 8.

The engine miss may be related to something in the Optispark getting corroded after all those years of sitting. As others will say, the best thing you can do for these cars is drive them.

I will not take advice from the parts counter guy on seafoam anymore! Can I unplug one injector at a time while running to see what effect it has on that cylinder similar to removing one sparkplug wire at a time?

Give John at FIC a call to discuss. If you still have the original Multech injectors, it's a good thing to replace them. Have you ever pulled the bowl from a lawnmower that's been sitting for years? There is a gummy coating of brown shellac on everything including the float and needle valve. While I've never disassembled an injector I can imagine that gas sitting in them for 10 years didn't do them much good.

John @ FIC is a hoot! Very funny! I,ve got injectors coming. I hope they solve my problem. All of the things that I have done needed attention anyway so I have not wasted any time or money.

John is a good guy and customer service next to none. Now a question - did you use a noid light and check injector pulse? Do NOT use a test light, noid is the only way to do it right.

One more suggestion. Get a fuel pressure gauge. I bought one but you may be able to get a loaner from Advance, Auto Zone or other parts house that has a loaner tool program. Fuel pressure should be above 38 lbs and it's easy to check.

WLRDLR,
You can actually hear your injectors working with a mechanics stethoscope. They make a clicking sound.

Unfortunately they could be dirty enough that your spray pattern is bad and would require new ones or removal and a real cleaning.

Like someone else said earlier, who knows the condition of the opti after all that time. May be something growing in there. I would not expect the wires to be worth much either.
