Hi, thanks to those who provided excellent advise on wheel adaptor torques specs. I have an '85 coupe with a stock 350. I am considering getting a Chevrolet Corvette Performance Chip - Model # ACD-178 from auto chips direct. Has anyone had experience with performance chips? Is this a good company? Do performance chips really do what the manufacture claims? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks, JFC
Custom designed chips are needed to extract the best performance after heavy modifications to your car and/or engine. Off the shelf chips will not add any performance to a stock C4.
Except, of course, as the joke goes, you will be faster because your wallet will be lighter.

Forget the chip on a stock 85. Your computer will handle many modifications without having to change the chip. This includes intake, exhaust and heads. Once you start to play and change the cam, chance are that you will need a custom chip. Save your money. The 85 respond very well to exhaust modifications. Start there.
