Wow, never thought this would garner that much feedback!! Apparently there's a strong opinion regarding chrome on plastic
I had originally hoped that someone would have posted a pic of an existing C4 with this mod so I would know I'm not crazy for thinking this might be cool, but it looks like I just might be! Thanks everyone for your honesty and feedback.
Parting thought: i wonder why chrome looks so good on a C3, but is heresy on a C4?
personally, i like the stock black molding. i've got to admit, i've never seen a C4 with a chrome belt line. bottom line, your car - whatever floats your boat. not sure how you could pull it off - maybe some of those highly reflective chrome paints.
If you like it, don't worry about what anyone else thinks
Have you even seen any car with a chrome line through the center? I think it would out of place. If you are looking for ideas to set your car apart, look for things that have worked on other cars, not necessarily vettes, that should give you an idea of what will work and what wont.
Yes, any car from the '50's, '60's, early to mid '70's and some '80's cars.
The chrome 'Vette is NOT a wrap. It's a new paint system they came out with a couple years ago. (which may be an option to make it happen) Also, aluminum tape carefully applied would do it too.

Regarding that chrome C6, I think I heard somewhere that it is illegal to have the whole entire car chromed because it is way too reflective and will blind other drivers.
However, its your car, so do what you like and want. My suggestion is to use chrome tape. They sell it almost in all auto parts stores. Apply that to the rub strips so you can see what it will look like and then make a decision.

You aren't crazy for thinking of the mod, but you ARE crazy for posting it here and not expecting a flood of scorn from worshipers at the high alter in Corvette Cathedral.
But don't worry -- this happens on every forum for every type of conveyance regardless of number of wheels. I believe it is the same instinct that causes musk oxen to form a circle and face outward when a wolf approaches.
