Well I just had my targa top replaced under my glass coverage two weeks ago... The glass shop installed the targa.. They had a hard time fitting it.. But they got it on.. Today I go to take the car out for a cruise and I notice a crack on the edge.. Sticks out about a .25 from the side edge moulding.. The crack is strange I can see another crack using a flashlight further in on the acrylic.. But the two cracks are not touching..
I called the glass company that swapped the tops and left a message.. Question is what could have caused this.... Manufacturing defect?? Car hasn't left my driveway since the install.. And nothing has hit it.. Should the glass company replace it??
I'm not sure about warranty.. I went to a glass shop..they ordered it and put it on...Do most places give warranties on targa tops.. I have only had it less than two weeks..I really can't see how it could have cracked.. Today is the first time I drove it since the install and I noticed it before I even got into the car.....

I assume the shop just replaced the glass panel and used your original frame and mounting hardware. While fitting the new panel the shop may have moved one of the mounting points ever so slightly, thereby requiring them to force the top into place. When fitting a new top there is a procedure for aligning the mounting points so as not to stress the top.
Well the glass company first stated it was scratched... After about 30 minutes I convinced him it was cracked(very obvious).. Then he tells me he will check with the manufacturer to see if they warranty it... I have a feeling if the manufacture tells them they are not warranting it.. He is going to say Sorry but they Won't warranty it...
Wondering what recourse I have considering it was already paid for by the insurance company?
