Default First Time With The Top Off!

Took a drive around town with the top off of my '84 for the first time since I bought it. Nice!

Yep, open air motoring is quite fun. Now if my '95 just didn't drive like a plate of limp noodles with the top off.

Open air motoring is the best. Think I'll go drop the top and take a cruise right now!

Default Once.

I've had my targa off once. Well actually twice. The second time I needed to mix some paint and I tied the cans to the windshield header and drove over a railroad track a few times.

The last 3 days I've been enjoying the warm early spring weather here in New England, driving my 92 all over with the top off. I probably put another 250 miles on her getting a suntan! Life is good.

Going to get a convertible brace or aftermarket? I hear those mild texas temps make for fun cruising.

FYI mine is almost as tight topless as top on...

Good for you...I've been driving with the top off quite a bit lately which is unheard of in March in NW Ohio...normally we're still having winter fun...

Anything over around 50 I get a lot of wind buffeting noise the visors are up down whatever makes no difference. i really don't mind the wind other than the weird noise it makes. Does this happen to everyone?

My top comes off around mid April and does not go back on until
October. I do not notice issues driving at all.

I took the top off my 95 twice....and the 88 35th anni car has Never had the top off...

I assume the 88 would "handle" with the same FLEXIBLE FLYER stiffness as the 95 so I know the top will stay on...

That said I own 3 Convertibles (64 72 & 98) and 3 Coupes (76 79 & 88) the tops only go up on the convertibles when they are inside the garage and the tops never come off the coupes......

NOBODY can tell me a Coupe with the top removed comes close to the feel of driving a convertible..

I got one of those kits that hold the hatch open a few inches for my 84 and it works GREAT ! ! The wind buffering is GONE ! ! I recommend it HIGHLY ! ! I havent noticed any difference in handling with the top off either. But then again, I am not a hard driver either.

Back then, when I didn't have two threaded torx screws, I would take the top off any time the weather was nice.

The flex on my old 84 was tolerable....on Marco, I'm seriously worried about breaking the windshield with the top off. It's that bad. Solid as a rock with the top on.

The targa brace bars have vanished from the market too. What a shame....great product from what I've read.

[edit] Seems I was wrong....they are still available!

Ecklers has a rear window hatch vent Part # A5285 $24.99. Allows the rear window/ hatch to be held open about an inch or so, allows the wind to pass thru the rear of the Vette. Takes care of the buffering you get at speed. Have one in my 89 works great.
