Default Clutch Issue

I have a 91 Z07 with a Spec Stage 1 and Flywheel w/ extra mass. When I got the car there were 200 miles on the clutch. I did a 1k mile break in.

When I pull forward/reverse, ESPECIALLY if I'm going up a hill, the car shudders and jars. If I back up a hill the back tires will actually look like they're wheel hopping it's so bad. I can also hear what sounds like clutch chatter when I pull out/reverse. I've got the typical rocks in a can noise clutch out at idle, but I'm curious to my issue. Could it be a bad pressure plate or something like that?

Clutch doesn't seem to slip at all, but the car definitely feels "slow." I also hear noticeable gear whine in every gear, not just 1st like most other ZF guys do, and the revs drop very quickly when I change gear.

Any insight is appreciated.

Do you have an aluminum flywheel? IF yes, that would explain the drop in RPM.

Not sure on the gear whine, they are a noisy box especially with a single mass flywheel. Make sure the fluid is up.

Sounds like clutch chatter, could be contamination from oil, etc...

As long as the hydraulics are ok....sounds like something is run amok inside the bell housing...you can guess what that means.

Ok, steel flywheel.

How does the pedal feel? Firm? Drops to floor? Normal?
If you have the car running and in neutral with clutch out, if you depress and try to shift into 1st does it go right away or does it grind?
Fluid level, no leaks?

Did this just start recently?

Any odd noises at idle, in neutral, clutch engaged?

How does it shift once moving? Are you sure it is not slipping?

I think you got a bad clutch, pressure plate, etc...hard to tell without pulling the thing out.

As Rubie mentioned, the disk might have been contaminated with grease during installation. Too much grease in the pilot bearing can do this or sloppy work. Also, possibly the flywheel is not flat with the crank. An unclean surface or bad torque job could cause this. Possibly it wasn't resurfaced during the cluch job. Also a pressure plate with a bad diaphram or bent fingers could cause chatter.
