Default 1994 Headlight Replacement

Like many C4 owners, I am not at all happy with the illumination of my stock headlights. I've done some research and have decided to purchase a pair of Sylvania Silverstars. I reviewed my FSM but still was unable to figure out how to remove and replace the old headlights. Could someone walk me through the procedure? Do I have to remove the headlight door or is there an better way to get at the retaining bezel that holds the headlamp in place? Thanks for any advise you can pass along.

open the hood. find the head light motor manual turn ****. turn motor until half the headlight motor is open. find the screws that hold on the cover on. after that is removed you will see the small screws that hold on the S/S ring that holds the headlight bulbs. unplug bulb.

all that can be found in your owners manual

If your 94 is like my 88, you can also get the headlights in the half-open position by turning the lights on, then turning them back to the park light position as they are opening. They will stop immediately in that position. (Note: if you just turn them on, they will open too much to get to the 4 screws holding the cover. And if they are in the off position, same issue.) You may have to play with it a little to turn them off at just the right point. Ends up being a 5-min or so job like this. Does not tell you this in FSM though.

Thanks guys for the prompt replies and information. Nowhere Man, you were right, the directions are in my owner's manual. I don't know how I missed it.

Even a blind hog finds an acorn every now and then.

I happened upon that trying to stop the lights in the right place by switching off the ignition when they were opening/closing. Never could get them to stop in the right place until I used the light switch. Took no time to change the bulb then.

I know this is an old post, but do you still have your old Wagner plastic headlights? If you do and they are in working condition, I'm willing to buy them from you for a fair price.
