Default Mud flaps?

Do any of you have mud flaps or guards in yor wheel wells? I bought a 94 vette that haves them, they are painted torch red and actually look pretty good. I just think it might look better without them. Do many of you without them have problems with rock chips? Thanks for any thoughts!

I had them on my 1st 35th Anni, took them off before letting it go to "salvage" and plan to install them on my 2nd 35th Anni.

They are black rubber and go well with the white/black motiff, IMO.

Plexiglass cut with a jigsaw. Just make a template with cardboard. Costs next to nothing.

Depends on whether you enjoy cleaning tar off your rear quarters or front fenders.

I have them on The Ghost and they work. I agree with vetsvette, the tar is a bitch to clean. I dont show Betty Boop anymore so likely I will install a set of them on BB soon.

My '93 came with them. They look good, so I left them on.

I have the clear small splash guards on my 85. You can hardly notice them as they don't take away from the body lines. I get many compliments on them because most people have never seen these type and no other cars of any make that I've seen have them.

Personally, I don't care much for the look of mudflaps on a vette, although I can understand why in some areas or situations they might be a good idea.

I bought the Altec molded splash guards for mine and love the look as well as the protection. I highly recommend them!

I have the clear ones Mid America makes. They work fine. Catch a lot right where you need it behind the wheel. They do not catch everything.
I still get rubber further back on my rear lower quarters but it is very minimal.

They really do not take away from the lines at all. FYI, the acrylic and auto-x cones don't mix I cracked one of them when I caught a cone. Nothing but a scuff on the paint, wiped off.

Here is a good shot of them:

Note mud line, where they caught some of it:

I don't have an exact thickness measurement of the plexiglass. Just go to TAP plastics and pick up some scrap that feels right. I had a roll of peel off stickum black vinyl that I had sitting around the garage. I think it was for a do it yourself fat hood stripe I never used. Autozone might still carry the stuff. I covered one side of the plexiglass with this stuff and it works great. If you have a line lock, it really helps protect the paint.

PO had a set of Altecs on the back and I added the front set. I like the look and living on a gravel road they sure do help. Now I get to shamelessly post a pic....
