low coolant and overheating
Bought an 88 with a few issues. You can see under the hood where it had overheated bigtime, brown water stains everywhere, guy replaced the water pump prior. While driving home it said low coolant off and on. I flushed, and added coolant to the resevoir tank over and over, burped the system, more coolant. Checked sensors, pressure tested radiator, bought a new rad cap. Still low coolant light and getting over 215 and up to 265 degrees. Checked for resevoir leaks, blah, blah. Well guess what it was??? One day fed up with the whole thing while car engine was cool, I reached down and put my mouth on the radiator opening and blew as hard as I could. Some old crap came out of the black hose going to the resevoir and it's been perfect ever since, never a low coolant and runs the highest to 181 degrees. So don't forget that trick when all else fails.
