Default Getting some work done

The '84 mileage is at 156k.

The transmission seal connecting to the engine needs to be replaced. I heard this was common for GM vehicles around this year.

Getting the windsheild wipers fixed. Motor only sends them a quarter of the way up the windshield. Didn't matter when I was on the highway, but around town kinda sucked cause I couldn't see

Heaters getting fixed. Apparently the prior owner bypassed the water flow going into the firewall. I just hope they had a different purpose other then bypassing a leaky heater core.

And last but not least, re-wireing the water temperature gauge. Found a bad wire right down there.

Are you leaking engine oil or transmission fluid?

Leaking transmission fluid. Mechanic worked on it yesterday. Found that the housing needs to be replaced. Also found 3 engine oil leaks that he's going to fix as well.

I'd change out the rear main seal while you are at it, got the transmission out anyway, now is the time to do it.

Just my 2 cents.

Might be a good time to look at the transmission while its out, see if it needs rebuilding or you could add a shift kit while you're at it.

For the heater core, I bypassed mine because it was leaking so I'm 90% sure the PO bypassed yours because it leaked. I hope that's not the case though or you'd have to take the dash out to get to the core.

Very good point! I'll text my mechanic now.

Man, I would love to switch it to a manual transmission. The heater is fixed!!!!! Mechanic didn't mention much about it, he just said it's fixed. A little late in the season, but it'll be ready for next season or when I'm driving at night with the top off

Ok, got the car back. Here's what the mechanic text me:
1)Replaced two rear main seals, tranny and engine
2)Fixed starter (replaced craking gear)
3)fixed seal intake manifold oil leak
4)replace front mail seal
5)fixed heater- sealed two core lines
6)fixed acceleration misfire(replace air control valve and fuel injector module)
7)replace transmission housing
All for $250 in parts and $600 in labor.
