I have a problem that seems a little different from everything I have been reading from others. My horn kinda worked but it sounded quiet and wouldn't blow long. When the car would lock itself, the horn would sound but sounded the same as if you pushed the steering wheel buttons. The horn died over time and now there is no sound, just a click under the passenger side. The horns are good and grounded. I tried an aftermarket horn but all I could get is a little "burp" out of them. 1996 LT1
may be your horn relay making poor connection, or less likely, the horn contacts in the steering wheel. relay would be my suspicion if you're sure the grounds and connections are clean.
Im pretty sure that the switches in the steering wheel are good because the same thing was happening when the car locked itself and the horn would sound. I'll have to replace the relay and see.

How do you know the horns are good? Did you replace both horns with aftermarket. I had one die then the other die, replaced with new horns and all was good.
I changed the horns and they did the same thing. I could only get a burp some of the time. I ran power to the new horns directly and they worked fine. Does anyone know where I could find the relay?

yes the horn relay is under the passenger side hush panel there is a bank of 4-5 relays. The contacts under the airbag can give out which gives the relay a ground path when pressed.
look at the service manual, if you dont have one,, its time to get them.
While talking horns, anybody have a suggestion on a good horn replacement -- mine work but they are embarrassing because they sound so wimpy! I would like to replace with a couple that would fit without messing up the wiring but that are noticeably louder and more piercing.
