Looking for some help, 91 coup, electronic climate control: The blend door is not working. Can't find any issues with the vacuum in the engine dept. cruise works fine. I suspect it's either a relay or the motor itself. How do i get to the motor. Do I remove the knee panel on the passenger side or driver. Also, when the engine is WARM and I'm idling with the AC on i get a bad miss. If I turn the ac off the miss goes away. Is the related? I've cleaned the throttle body already.
Thanks for the help as always!
Drop the PS hush panel and look up a bit. You will see a small motor with a lever going into the climate control housing.
On my prior '88 the plastic fastener holding the lever to the top of the motor shaft had broken allowing the lever to hang down with no contact to the drive motor shaft
With A/C on at idle does the RPM drop substantially?
The blend door motor is controlled by the HVAC programmer above the gas pedal. There are two large 340 ohm resistors on the PC board that overheat and can cause the motor to stop working. Check out these links:
