Think about it this way. Most cars made in the 80s were hideous. The C4 is a lot more attractive than those cars, but compared to the C3 or C5....well its not the greatest. Performance was nothing special either.
I love my C4, but they aren't thought of as the coolest corvette ever, put simply. When I got my corvette, my friends were making fun of me, saying I got the ugliest model. I corrected them, saying it was the cheapest model

That is a matter of opinion.I prefer the C4 to any C3 in the looks department unless it's a chrome bumper car but then it doesn't compare in the handling dep. The C4 is not slow at all especially compared to the C3. You have to stop looking at HP as speed/quickness. I also prefer the looks of the C4 over the C5 exept the Z06. The C6 I like.
Never said the C5 wasn't superior in many ways but low and behold a C5 owner has to come in and act like I did. Thank you for proving my point.
I live in Bowling Green so I have been to just a few Corvette events. It is a fact that a large percentage of the owners of WHATEVER generation is the latest and greatest at the time are elitst jerks. THERE ARE ALWAYS EXCEPTIONS! My comments are not intended to bash all C5 and C6 guys. I have 2 neighbors with Corvettes one a C5 the other a C6. We all bought our cars used and bought what we could afford at the time. I don't dislike them because they are newer and they don't dislike mine because it is older. We all get along because we are car guys, not a bunch of idiots who just want to show who can spend the fastest.
And a goodly portion of C6 owners couldn't even tell you what it is!
Again, this is certainly not ALL C6 owners, probably not even most of them that are here, but believe me, they are out there.
Several years ago I was out at the track and I saw another C4, it's actually rare to see a Corvette at the track so I went over and talked to the guy. He was really proud of his car, and talked real big about his Lingenfelter 383 that he claims he paid an additional $30k for. He was running in the mid to high 13's. He didn't have too much more to say to me when my C4 with about $3k in mods done in my own garage had him beat by a whole second.
He thought that because he had spent a lot of money he was something special. He quickly discovered that night that no matter how much $$ you spend you can't buy a fast ET if you don't have the skills to back it up. I've never seen him at the track since. If I had to guess I'd say he's long since sold that car and spends his money stroking his ego in other ways.
I want a C4 a fiero a 3rd gen and a Miata.
Would that make me a "Red headed "gay" "mullet" wearing stepchind?
Sounds a lot like my shopping list.
And most of the guys that would call us a red-headed gay mullet wearing stepchild are old farts that don't have any hair left and couldn't get it up with a crane.
I've heard that sort of nonsense driving the Fieros a couple of times.....usually by some impotent ******** with a giant beer gut and a horseshoe of thin hair with one strand of combover left on his noggin. The last one that asked if a lot of gays drove Fieros got this reply...."why, you looking for a date?". He wasn't happy, but opted not to pursue it any further.
Another one at a gas station once made that comparison.....I told him to have his wife climb in the car and I'll bring her back an hour from now with any doubt of my heterosexuality put to rest. Again, he wasn't amused.
These are the 2% minority. Most actually had a lot of compliments and questions about both the C4 and the Fieros.
The V8 Fiero was a real hoot....a ton of compliments....and a couple of distractors that got silenced quickly.
Drive whatever car you like....screw the rest of the world.

No, just the majority of them.
You claim that C5 owners are just big ole meanies who look down their noses but I have a very simple question. Who threw the first insult at another generation in this thread?

I'll give you a hint. It was you.
Food for thought.
I've said it once and i'll say it again.....the only Corvette bashing of ANY gen that i've ever heard happens right here on this forum for some strange reason.

And it will be the C7 owners after that and the C8 owners after that. It's not an insult intended towards a generation but rather an insult towards an attitude. Many apologies to those who own C5's and C6's who DO NOT look down their noses. Just as other have said it is "simple economics" as to why companies don't make performance C4 parts, it's the same thing. There are those who will always buy the latest and greatest just for the sake of looking down their noses at everybody else. That happens to currently be the C6. If you don't fall into that mold GREAT! There are car lovers of every generation but with the latest generation there will always be the status symbol guys, that's a fact. Not wanting to admit it doesn't change it.
As far as the idea that it's the C4 crowd that always mentions this, and picks back, it's because we are the ones who have to deal with this currently. As the C5's age you'll see the same thing, they will be the affordable cars that get no respect. C4's just happen to be that non respected generation right now.
And finally as far as the people who are hating on me personally... I've got a really nice solution for you. The forum has a really nice "ignore" tool where posts from a particular user won't even show up. See the thing is I have every bit as much right as anybody else does to post my OPINION here. The thing about opinions is that everybody has one and they are all just about useless. If you are tired of reading my opinion, then just add me to the ignore list, you'll never have to read it again!
Now with all of that out of the way, lets ask a moderator to lock this one down once again because people want to take a matter of opinion and turn it into a meaningless argument.
