I have a 91' 6sp and I'm still trying to sort some issues out. When I turn on the A/C, I notice the revs drop WAY faster between shifts. I have to shift pretty quick to get it smooth, is this normal? I can't imagine A/C should make that much of a difference on a big engine like this.
I also have an intermittent issue with power. Right around 2500-3k ( where peak torque is) at highway speeds it seems to "bog" or lose power. I can pretty much floor it and it feels like it's holding back. My vette has new Bosch Design 3 injectors, and a new fuel filter.
The car has a bad pressure plate, but the clutch currently doesn't slip at all.
After driving it some more the bogging seems to occur when the a/c is on, pretty much all the time. Any ideas/help as to why the A/C is causing it to drop revs/lose so much power?
You should not feel it at highway speed slowing you down. Either your engine is very poor condition or as I suspect that A/C compressor is bad. Try turning the face of the a/c clutch with the engine and everything off. Should turn with minimal effort. If it is very hard to turn, your A/C compressor and/or clutch is about to be junk.
I'm going to compression test the motor, and go through changing all the tune-up items. It's only got 48k, and still pulls hard when the A/C is off, so I dont think it's the engine.
I can freely spin the clutch part of the compressor with my hand.
