Here the pics of the 1985 Corvette I picked up on Christmas day. I drove it straight to storage. I removed the Targa top, the Digital Display and headlight buckets before tucking it in for the winter. The PO just sent me these pics so I thought I would post them.
I rebuilt the Digital display myself with help from Forum members. New sockets, new bulbs, new heat shields, couple new solder joints, cleaned thoroughly - put it back together and she worked great!
The targa top I removed the old headliner and put a new one in - looks great! I then carbon fibered the exterior of it. The PO had painted the top flat black as seen in the pics.
I replaced both main drive gears in the headlight motors and put them back together.
The next project is the door panels. I think i have to take them apart down to their core and start over. I am not looking forward to this project. I have read the DIY's and it doesn't sound fun - but it needs to be completed to make it look respectable. PO cut speaker holes and then mashed everything back together - they aren't even hung properly on the door. I have purchased two newer style regulators for the windows, I think I will replace parts as I go. I would like to have them done for the July holiday. We shall see!
I would like to see more pics of that blue one. Looks interesting to say the least.
I will see if I still have some. I sold that one last fall. It had a 383, headers into straight pipes. LOUD!. manual shift. It was a fun, fast car. The Brown one I got for parts. It was pretty ruff. Down to the red C4 and the Blue C3.
Some ppl added third brake light kits. I think Mid America used to sell them with a module that would keep them from blinking along with the turn signals.
OP your vin will tell the model year and there are a boat load of vin decoders online. Also you can look at the brake pedal. 86 had two switches for the brake lights.
