Congrats on your new ride.
A new battery solved my "SYS" alert. The vented "gill" panel comes off to change it. Open the driver's door to access some of the screws. It should come off easy, but if it doesn't, you missed a screw somewhere.
You can post pics straight from the web. I clicked on this one at the dealer's site.
Sorry I haven't checked back in. I spent all morning cleaning the inside and outside of the car. It was dirty when I got it. I then jumped the car and drove it over to the mechanic to have him look it over. Car needed some cables replaced and the battery was bad. Now it runs even better! I tried to get in touch with my Uncle, hopefully I can cruise up to his house tomorrow and get pictures of my 94 next to his 85 that was the inspiration. I keep forgetting to take pictures! I will post some soon.
I disabled the under hood lights and the cargo lights and the open door lights, cause if any of them stay on too long your gonna deal with a dead battery. Get a battery charger. Also don't leave any door ajar, including the hatch, open overnight. The battery will be dead in the morning because of the security system drain.
