Need to replace the shift Indicator dial on my automatic. Can anyone advise the best way to access/screw locations for easy removal. Purchased a replacement on Corvette Central
In order to slide the console cover back the first thing to do is take the storage compartment lid off and just move it aside. There are three screws holding the console cover on, two under the carpet in the storage bin and a torque head in the front ashtray hole in the cover. Then the wires to the hatch release and the cig lighter. Once these are all out you can raise the cover enough to reach the two phillips screws that hold the indicator plate on without fully removing the cover.
Yikes. Thought this would be an easy one lol. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.
When it comes to a Corvette they made nothing easy for us, try relacing the fuel filter or changing the Opti or putting a new flasher relay in or.... never mind I don't have the time, this could take all day.

To add insult to injury screws dislodged and no where to be seen
Great info THANKS!!!Can they be purchased in a set?? What do yOu ask for specifically or do you bring in the screw in question??
The fastest way would be to take one with you to match it up, but I just bought a few of each length to have on hand incase I needed them ...There only like 20 -25 cents each and they match the black screws in our cars perfectly.. They only sell individual screws , not sets. If your car is like mine the screws in the door carpet were all rusted on the heads, I replaced them all for like $4.00....WW

Just removed console cover 3 screws. The screws were missing from the shift indicator dial which is why it sunk into deep recesses of the shifter console. American craftsmanship. Outstanding
