No one has ever claimed that Vettes were cheap rides.

What's a battery cost....$2?

One theory I've heard that seems valid is that the key fob transmits whenever it is moving so owners who always carry the fob in their pocket go through batteries quickly.
My fobs hang on a key rack and the batteries last 6 months to a year easily.

My batteries have lasted years and I used to carry the remote everyday.
If you wear tight fitting pants, you may be pressing the buttons on the FOB without knowing it.

I have heard this also.

The battery in my FOB is at least 2 years old, and still works just fine.
But like toptechx6, my keys spend a lot of time just hanging on a rack.
I don't drive the car everyday.

The fob does indeed xmit whenever it is moving. There is no way to prevent that, except of course to put it down somewhere when not driving. Of course, some people will get more time out of a battery than others, who knows why.

Just out of curiosity what brand of battery are you using? I only recently learned that there are very few brands that really fit properly, Renata, a Swiss brand is one that does.

Most others that I've tried do not fit the battery holder properly and can become unseated especially if the fob is dropped.
At first I interpreted this as a dead battery because installing a new one restored operation, eventually I realized just reinstalling the old battery did the same thing.

You can improve this somewhat by gluing a small piece of foam tape inside the fob to help hold the battery in place, but best bet is to get a battery that really fits,as mentioned very few fit correctly.

Mine lasted a little under a year and this is DD it all summer. I do try to leave my keys in my desk at work rather than in my pocket though...

Look at the dimensions in these links and you will understand the difference, most batteries are made like the Energizer shown here.
