I had a lady back into my 90 vert today. Almost no damage to my car but her 2011 chevy cruz needs a new rear bumper. My car now has a broken right front side marker light, a small dent in the rubber bumper and a crack in my fiberglass hood about 3 in. long but it didnt break the paint. now the bad is that I have a dent on the edge of my wheel. My wheels on the car are factory 1990 wheels. So whats the chance of finding one to replace it. that still has the factory stickers on it. I know that sounds pretty petty right. for the stickers.

There are some good sources for original replacement wheels for your Corvette on EBay Motors. Maybe you can transfer the sticker to the replacement wheel. Sorry to hear of your accident. Thank goodness though no one was hurt.
Its that it dont look bad. But I guess it is, I just found the inner wheel well cracked. The part that bothers me the most is that now my car will show a reported accident on the car fax.
I called my son to find what the cost is to paint a hood on a corvette at the shop where he paints He said its 7to8 hundred. I was thinking someone on the forum may have gone through this before. I dont know what the ladys adjuster will do. as far as understanding that this is not a toyota. and care has to be done with this car. The insurance company already called me and said they will cover 100% of the repair.
Depending on the laws of your state, her adjuster has little choice on what he can write in his estimate. In general, your vehicle has to be returned to pre-accident condition. Did you call the police to have a report made up? There is more than $1000 in damage there. Just stick to your guns and make them pay to fix it properly.
If they are getting it repaired they should be able to find the parts OK, there are plenty out there, but if they are paying you to let you get it repaired, keep an eye on Craigslist. You can use search tempest to search multiple areas on it
Make sure you have the adjuster add the Corvette tax as well. You should be able to find a "new" rim around "O" town somewhere. Like suggested check CL and eBay. Start a thread in the "Parts for Sale" forum. I have heard there are places that can repair rims as well. Check around at used tire places and shops that sell rims for more info.
Dont let the adjuster get away with using any parts you dont feel comfortable with and dont take the car back until you are happy with the results. Glad it wasnt worse than it is.
I have a hole set of factory 87 wheels here trying to sell send a email and I can send picture see if they are what you are looking for could put them on a bus cheap shipping to most places

Yes, the report on Carfax is killer. Even fixed perfectly many potential buyers won't touch it for full market price with a reported accident. The insurance company should pay something extra for that as well. But..I recommend you take multiple "before" repair photos so you can show them to potential buyers so they know the damage was not severe.

Jim, Yes take tons of before pics. You also should go to a Corvette place for the repairs like either Rogers or H&H in Maitland for example.. Who only deal in corvettes. After all the insurance is paying. Also if any parts are needed they will be nos stuff not cheap knockoffs from Asia. Even date coded used is best. Id stay away from a normal body shop unless you fully trust them. You should be OK with carfax with pics & proper repairs. Also save old parts! keep in touch Ed
Thanks Guys for all the input. My plan is to take a day off of work and take my car to a place that works on corvettes to get a estimate for the repair. This way I will have something in hand just in case I dont like what allstate says. The damage is very minor, In fact if I were to replace the side light you would not even see the damage. but if you rub your hand down the side of the hood you will feel the crack. then look inside at the wheel house its broken at the bolt holes. My big problem is even since the car has been inside for most of its life the paint is still 22 years old. I DO NOT WANT A MISMATCH PAINT ON MY CAR. and I will not accept anything less. my paint was in excellent shape before the lady bumped it now I need the hood repaired and the front bumper painted. thats 1/3 of the car. I have a paint shop at home I could fix it myself. but I didnt do the damage so someone needs to pay.
I think the hood should be taken off the car to be repaired. You dont know how deep the crack is into the glass. I dont want all that dust in my car. also if a body shop makes the repair what about overspray on the nuts and bolts. all the telltail signs of a repaint.I dont want that either

A good repair shop will mask it correctly, so be choosy. Also ask to see other work done by them. I did recommed Rogers as he is meticulous to detail. Good luck on your search .. Ed
had my appt. with allstate this morning and what a joke. the adjuster wanted to give me a check for 700.00 when my estimate at burkes corvette is 2600. I told the adjusterto take the check and shove it up his a$$. Then I called tim at burkes corvette and he said dont worry about it I will fight the insurance co. So next week he will get my car. Now I was not going to get a rental car because I have another vehicle to drive. But after today I will get a rental car and they will pay for it.
They do absolutely nothing to verify their incoming data. Just for grins, a friend ran my 1990 Coupe through the carf#x process, it questioned the actual mileage and indicated a major accident had happened in 1997 in Glendale, AZ. My car has been in my possession since new and has never even been to Glendale, AZ I tried to get all the data corrected but the Glendale PD only keeps records for 8 years and nothing could be done. A 'correction' specialist? named Mary at carf#x worked with me for about a month attempting to fix the problem.
It was never completely fixed and they don't really care how accurate their data is, as long as someone keeps buying their BS reports.

I also agree also that the car-fax is somewhat worthless on these cars. Besides car-fax wasn't even around when these cars were first running around.
Just for an example, you could have had a flood car that happened lets say in 94 or so. Then been refurbished and to the average person no one would have ever known.
Besides I'm sure there are ways now people can have damage reports hidden and never show up on a car-fax.
For instance, I know of one car in particular like this way now. Granted it's not a Vette but it was wrecked and shows a clear report.
To me, people put to much weight in a car-fax when buying a car. It's a tool but not to be taken as gospel.

I just picked up my car from Tim Burke @ Burke Corvetts. I must say he was at one time part of Rogers Corvette he has a shop next to Rogers and does work for Rogers but he ownes the shop. Anyway he took control of dealing with the insurance company and repaired my car. I think he done a great job. I will have my son post a few pictures.

Carfax is far from worthless, people just use it wrong, expecting it to show everything that's ever been wrong with a car.
