Mileage is stored in the CCM or body computer and displayed below the speedometer display. That unit also has the VIN and provides error code storage for certain options like FX3.
Used CCM's can be installed, but there is no real way to change the VIN or the odometer value. When you get a new CCM, you have 100 miles before the unit locks out any attempt to program it. So the data (milesge, VIN, and other stuff) has to be programmed into a new unit at installation or within that 100 miles.
