Exhaust Question
Is it me or do other members think the stock C4 exhaust note is just way too tame? What can be done on a budget to make the exhaust louder but still stay emissions legal? I don't want to fork out the money right now for an entire new system since mine is still in great shape. I might swing by a local exhaust shop on Saturday to have this done.
I also AutoX with NCCC and sometimes with SCCA and I want to remain in my stock class so any major mods are out of the question. I'm just looking for a little more rumble if you know what I mean.... :)

Muffler Eliminators = Great Sound!
These are available from any of the catalogs or can be built by a local shop. Most who have done this mod have experienced a little power loss in the low end (do a search on Mr. Mojo's findings ... he has tested extensively). Almost everyone will experience cabin resonance to some degree. While this can be controlled somewhat by gearing it can be annoying to passengers.
I had elims built using stock tips. Loved them (and the sound was awesome) but the wife was really bothered by the resonance, esp. on longer trips. So I now have Corsas ... increased power, great sound, and no resonance. (btw, the elims are for sale)

For a cheap way to get a little more sound and flow I had a local Muffler Shop put Flowmasters on my 91. $350 for the mufflers and 4 new chrome tips. For another $180 he would have increased the y pipe off the cat to 2-1/2 or 3 for me.
They sound great, have some interior rumble that my wife could live without but I'm happy with the setup for the cash involved.
