Steve, just make sure everything is good on the car. You can do things like removing spare tire and 'stuff' to reduce the weight, but running stock the effort isn't really worth it. Main thing is to stay safe, have fun, and stay in the groove. You going to a 1/4 mile track?

I just changed out the pads and rotors and flushed the entire system.

Yes Andy 1/4 mile track. The car is completely stock other than a K&N filter and a little bling. I've just had the "itch" lately of wanting to take it to the track and see how i would do. I don't really want to beat the snot out of it, but i think a few passes would be fun.
Steve, it is fun. I have at least a couple hundred passes on mine, but all on an 1/8th mile track. Nearest 1/4 mile track is 2 hr drive one way. A day at the track is always a fun day, beating a Mustang is even better.

I hear ya on beating a Mustang. The nearest 1/4 mile track is about an hour and 1/2 away from me, so it will be a little ride. Just hoping i don't break something, or the ride home will take a little longer.

Two important lessons I can pass on:
1) Lightly spin the tires before staging. Drive around the water box. Big smoky burnouts are not for street tires.
1a) When Staging, after you light the first staging light, creep very slowly to light the second staging light. This will set you up for the next step.
2) Watch the light tree and launch on the last yellow. By the time your brain processes the information, and your feet start to move, the light will be green.
OK that's three but why bother counting. Have fun and remember to post your times here.

Thanks Coach. My times may be a little embarassing, but i'll post them up anyway, if you can't laugh at yourself.....
Don't worry about the times. No matter what you do there will always be someone else faster. jrriflecoach gave good advise, not much I can add to that other than try not to spin the tires. Launch as hard as you can without spinning.
Leave on the converter as much as you can without spinning. I like my Kumho's at 26psi HOT. Track conditions/your tires will determine what you can do, adjust pressure accordingly.
