what does everyone think about muffler eliminators I have an 88 convertible and was wondering how loud it would be going down the road with the top down and if anone has pics or link it would be helpful
Here's a couple pictures of the ones I did on my 93. It was a completely stock exhaust except for these so it was not too loud but had a nice growl when you stood on it hard.
Here's a vid I did when I first put my 383 in.. Yours would be about as loud, but without the sound of the more erratic cam...I have the eliminators, Hooker headers, and a Magnaflow high flow cat ,nothing else..Going down the road it actually quiets down some and has no drone. I have heard cars with mufflers that were louder then my car....WW
They were there first but the cabin noise was unbearable. I also have a pair of magnaflows I sometimes bolt up when I need it to be quiet and then can uncork it in a mater of minutes..

I just took them off my 86...replaced em with Borla's..unhappy with both..the eliminators were very very unbearably loud..cabin intrusion and drone is unbelievable,,of course the Borla are stainless from the cat back..so looks like I am living with it until I change em out for a stock set that are quiet...I was at a show on June 5..and I beautiful 1993 ZR-1 was next to me, he started the car..and you can barely hear 405 hp..through his stock system. the drone on the highway in the cabin is unbelievable with the eliminators, I am not 18 anymore..and just not for me, and 900 bucks worth of Borla Cat backs are not much better. mellower drone, but a drone still there, sounds great when you punch it..but its pretty hard to live with for a few short hours that I use the car traveling to shows, on the highway, and my neighbors grab their kids and run when I come down the street...
Best, Derek

I love mine, not too terribly loud unless you really get on it and a really nice purr at idle. Cost $150.00 at a local shop and it took about an hour. No drone and I like listening to the engine instead of the radio.
Got a great sound from my '90 by installing a front Y pipe without the precats/resonators. No drone or harsh noise...just a nice rumble and not intrusive. Still have the stock mufflers.
I had them on my 95 LT1 (coupe) and even my wife did not notice I had removed the stock mufflers.. at road speeds we could talk without any problem at all...at idel you sure can tell the difference but it is still not loud..
I purchased an 88 35th ANC no tlong ago and before the summer is over I'll install a set of eliminators on it for sure... just not sure how the L98 will sound in comparison to the Lt1
I ran chambered exhaust in my 79 (couple naturaly) and in my 72 (Convertible) for a few months before I ripped it out of the 79...it was like sitting inside a drum at any speed.. The 72 convertible was fine...I now also have chambered exhaust on my 64 convertible also..
My 79 along with 76 (coupe) now run with a set of Monza (resonators not mufflers)..both are true duals, with no cats... I like the sound at any speed..
