I was looking for something to criticize because yours looks so good. I finally found something. What happened to the cover for the Battery lead on the alternator? Don't ask to see a picture of mine I don't want to ruin a new Canon Camera.

What fun would that be? The way it is you can make a nice arc by making accidental contact to that post and a ground with a wrench.. don't ask how I know.
OP - your engine looks really nice - did the exact same thing to mine last year when I was doing head gaskets. I do wish I had done a little better job with mine but it still looked 10x better than before.

Beats me , probably rotted off. Funny how you look at something all the time but don't see the obvious.
nice!!! other than the couple of items (missing alternator lead rubber boot, and the tar pit , nice looking L98. i did see this on another forum ---
This might not be news to some, but thought I would share just in case for anyone that might have the same problem I had. The rubber boot was hard and deteriorated on my Z and I had trouble trying to find a replacement.
My local NAPA guy did not give up and found part number BT2 for about $3.00 and it comes with the boot, nut, bolt and red plastic piece (did not use) that is on the alternator. I thought this would be an easy to find item at the local parts store, but it was....at least here anyway.
Not NCRS or anything like that, but it works perfectly and seals nicely to my rebuilt alternator.
A little too clean if you ask me. I like mine covered in oily fingerprints. Its kind of my thing that every time i touch something i have to give my signature oil print. I cant come do yours too. Ill have you shaped up in no time!
