Default Saying Hello

Hi all, I'm a new member saying hello. I am sure to have many questions in the future and appreciate any helpful advice.

This is my second Corvette, I had a 1959 in the mid sixties. My new baby is a 1989 white convertible, auto with tan top and interior.

I have the FSM and have been reading that and all the great info here on the forum.

So far I have 3K miles on a re-manufactured engine and transmission.
New pads and rotors,exhaust,top,and windshield.

Replaced two Bose speakers and the power antennae.

Have replaced the door and top rubber except for two pieces that should arrive this week.

New belt and all cooling hoses, and a power steering hose.

My credit card is getting hot!

Future plan is to change the rear ratio to 3.07, now I turn 2K@ 80mph
with the stock 2.59.

My wife and I really enjoy the car, I have already told her we need another.

Happy to post here
Chuck

Nice looking car. Sounds like you've already covered the head gasket issue with your rebuilt L98.
My 89 has 66k miles and I am going through all the C4 "issues" but still like the car.

I have the 3.07 gears and combined with the torque of the L98 seems to be all the gear I need. Some of the LTx cars seem to benefit from more gear but that makes sense as they have a broader power band. Heck if your primary use for this car is cruising to the beach with the wife, I'd be tempted to just leave well enough alone and enjoy the extra couple of mpgs. Of course if you see some autoX, strip etc in your future or just have the desire for some tire smoke and harder acceleration well I couldn't blame you. I don't think I'd go any (numerically) lower in mine as long as my engine is stock. Just my .02

I also like those wheels!

Thanks all for the compliments !!!

Slow Lane is your car an auto? What rpm do you turn at 60 or 80 mph?

Yes a water leak was the reason the engine was replaced.New motor has a 3yr/100k warranty.

This is a sunny day cruiser for us, so mpg is not a concern.

Yep mine is an auto. My clown dash* indicates 2000-2100 rpm @ 70 mph if that helps. I am running 275/40/17 (stock size). My multec injectors are starting to react to the ethanol but just to give you an idea I can put it in drive standing still, step off the brake, stand on the gas and it will roast both tires through first gear and into second unless I lift. I've never tried to brake torque it. Obviously I don't make this a habit but just wanted you to know what it runs like.
