Six months later, I finally got the brakes fixed on the Red One! Three shops later and two initial attempts by myself to bleed the %$^$$ brakes finally succeeded.
It turned out to be a bad master cylinder and the highly experienced shop that had it, worked for two weeks to fix it! They bench bled it, power bled it, manually bled it, gravity bled it and couldn't get it to work for very long. It was the exact same symptoms I had.
There was a similar Corvette up here that took a visit from the Raybestos tech to figure out, and it had the same problem.
I've hardly driven this car for six months!!! My buddy who shares the shop with me, had a good friend who owned a shop and called him to tell him the long tale of this car and that it would be a challenge and his friend accepted it.
It wasn't easy, but they fixed it! Charged me a very reasonable price too. Couldn't find a decent 95' master cylinder for nothing and ended up with a brand new AC-Delco MC. I picked it up Thursday night and the brakes felt so good. I had already had the booster replaced, as well as the pads and rotors, so now it has an entirely brand new braking system.
It came back from the shop from sitting outsided for two weeks, somewhat dirty and forlorn, but Friday morning, the 'Vette got loved again, as I washed and waxed it and I didn't secretly despise it any longer. It still looks like a new car, even with 92k miles on it. The interior is still mint and I douched the seats with Lexol leather preservative, rubbing it in by hand and then letting it sit. Even the car seemed stoked.
The weather was beautiful and I drove it all weekend long. The choice wasn't hard. Drive the Focus wagon with upright cloth seats, or be deep in plush leather, head back on the head rest and re-loving the experience of driving the 'Vette again.
But as it goes with C4's, the shop told me that the radiator is starting to leak and had a small leak from the side of the tank. Yep, it figures. Got a new AC Delco radiator on the way and we'll be replacing it ourselves at the shop. Already used the 'search' function on this great site and am ready to tackle it at our shop/studio/man-cave.
Yep! You were right Pete! Between a set of brand new Michelin Pilot Sport AS's and an entirely brand new brake system, I must've dropped an amount nearly equal to a third of the value of the car! Oh, how I love to drive it. It was hard to switch back to the Focus wagon.

It's great to know The Vette is back and ready for the next run. I think we should do one before the rain season gets here. Hmm, one for mid July sounds good and I already have driven the route, it is set and ready.
