Just wanted to say hi. My wife and I just purchased our first corvette
It has been my wifes life dream to own one, so I let her bite the bullet and get one. She picked out a 1992 Deep Red convertible with the ZR1 body package. The vehicle has 35,000 original miles. It is in very nice shape but noticed that the weather stripping where the top meets the windshield needs to be replaced. Is there a preferred manufacturer for weather stripping?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

1. Do NOT wash the front of the engine. If the Optispark gets wet, (it's under the waterpump), you could destroy it.
2. Change ALL fluids. Some of them could be 20 years old.
3. Check the date code on your tires. If they are older than 6 years, consider replacement. If they are original, don't drive on them.
4. Get a Factory (red) service manuals - a two volume set.
5. Follow this forum regularly. You'll learn a LOT.
6. Drive that thing!
Thanks for the tips. All fluids were changed prior to purchase. Tires are only 2 years old. Thanks for the heads up on washing the engine.
The only main issues that need attention is that the driverside mirror glass is cracked and needs to be replaced and the weather stripping for the top needs to be replaced.
Hey welcome and very nice vette and color. You have a beautiful car there. I used the Wilcox WS but you can try a Chevrolet parts dealer and try to get an OEM part. I tried a few years ago and they were available not sure if they are now. But they are a lot more expensive but well worth it I am sure.

Beautiful. Someone really did a nice job on those wheels - they really shine.
Just for your info, I think the body kit is a Greenwood or Greenwood style kit (not a ZR-1 kit).
It really looks nice though.
If you grip the door mirror with your finger tips (sorta like a softball pitcher) you can pull on it firmly and it will pop right off the trunion that holds it on. Then find a used one and pop it back on firmly but carefully.
Try the "parts for sale/wanted" section here and I bet someone will have one for you.
Welcome!

I guess I was assuming this since it has a ZR1 emblem on it. A newbie mistake.
