Hi all,
I'm istalljng an aftermarket jvc head unit in my 94 coupe. I have the Bose gold system and purchased a metra Bose amp bypass integration harness and was wondering if anyone else has used and wired up this kit and where all j need to.run wires etc... I've hooked up many stereo just don't know where to snake all the wiring and what all needs to go where...all the kit said was that the amp OS.in the RH side of.hatch.
Thanks
You can run the wires along the passenger side of the console and then behind the carpeting that is behind the passenger seat. If you look under the removable bin behind the passenger seat you will see a hole going into the bin where the wires enter from behind the carpeting. Since you have to take apart most of the console anyway, if I were you I would probably replace the speakers at the same time to avoid duplicate work later. I ended up doing it twice myself- first for a new headunit and later for new speakers. I hate doing things twice!
I would suggest you replace all speakers, and rewire them as well. It's has a lot to do with the ohms that the Bose speakers use. I did all of this on my 90. I am not sure but you may need to wire in the two .5 ohm resistors to complete the data stream if you have the C68 climate control option.
Thanks
I used.the metra Bose amp integration wiring kit that allows me.to use the stock Bose amps.and.speakers with an aftermarket head unit...it has 4 RCA s for.the 4 channel line level outputs. Worked.out well...wasn't.nearly.as hard as I thought to run the cabling though there was an extra 7 ft I had.to tuck away. Haven't noticed any issues with the climate.control...only problem seems to.be the amp thump at turn.on.and turn.off
Just about all of us use the Metra harness adapter. The "thump" you hear won't get better, only worse. That is why I ended up replacing the speakers. In all probability, the speaker amps need new capacitors and are on the way out. Do yourself a favor and bite the bullet now and wire for new speakers and get some decent speakers. Do you smell an acrid smell almost like burning antifreeze in the car yet? If you do, that is the speaker amps going bad. If you don't, you'll probably smell it soon.
