1984 corvette original crossfire. I need some desperate help guys. My cooling fans wouldn't quit running last night after I shut the car off. Pulled the fuse out for the night and this morning got back on it. Changed the temp switch on the side of the head, no change. Then realized its probably the relay. Got ready to go pick the relay up now it won't start it turn over and thE dash flickers and makes a slight groan. I had just started it 20 min prior to this to make sure the new sensor did not leak. Any suggestions? Sounds like I may be losing a ground maybe that's why the fans stay on and wont start?
There are two grounding devices one located under the windshield washer tank and under the battery. I have herd that if you clean where they bolt to the frame it will clear up a lot of electrical problems. They have a tab with a bolt going into the frame. Unbolt them and clean the frame and tab. Good Luck.
I'm having trouble getting my 1984 started as well. It gave me 7,000 great miles then all the sudden it lost power to the point that I could just get it home. Now it won't start. Since I got it home I've changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs, ECM, pick up coil, Electronic spark control module, timing set and water pump, temperature sensor and connector, vacuum line to the map sensor and a short vacuum line right next to the distributor.
Before it had trouble I changed the air filter, cap and rotor, plug wires and set the timing just right. It ran well for weeks then all the sudden it didn't.
This evening I took the EGR valve off the car and found what seemed like a bad part and potential vacuum leaks. I hacked the EGR so that it totally blocks the exhaust from getting into the intake air and capped off the vacuum port into the throttle body. I've unplugged the EGR solenoid. I wonder if I should jumper the connector to the solenoid or just let it dangle?
Still not starting yet. What else can I test / inspect / measure / replace?
You have replace a lot of parts but have you checked to see if you have spark at the plugs and if not do you have 12v at the wire going to the HEI and if not run 12v from the battery direct to the HEI to see if that work; can you hear the fuel pump working and if so how much pressure are you showing? You can take a long piece of 12 gauge wire and connect it to the battery and to the fuel pump at the tank connection and that should start the pump. It would help if you have a factory service manual to help diagnose your problem.

I have spark at the plugs(at least the number 2 plug, that's the one I've been testing).
I tested the fuel pressure just past the new filter, it was about 12.
I get nice cones of fuel spray while cranking. Some times I wonder if it's flooding so I pull the fuel pump fuse and crank it again. While doing that it tries to fire but won't. Then I put the fuse back in and still nothing.
