Default coolant overflow

After a short ride on a 80 degree day the coolant recovery tank overflowed just prior to pulling the car (1996 41,500) into the garage. I noticed a trail of coolant down my driveway and up the street.
Last year the water pump and thermostat were replaced in september when this problem happened before and now only 450 miles driven since and same problem again. The warranty is good for 12mo or 12000 miles so repair cost not an issue but cause of the malfunction is. The temperature indicator was normal and car was running fine.
Any ideas on what could be causing this overheating problem??

Check your radiator cap. It might have a weak spring.

If you can push it easily with your fingers, then it needs replacing.

Radiator caps have multiple ways to fail. It's easiest to just replace it. They aren't expensive.

You probably have trash in between the condenser and radiator. It's a very common problem. You need to take the top off the radiator shroud to clean out the mess (and there WILL be a mess!). I found about 25 cigarette butts and a LOT of leaves in mine.
