Default Code 33

I recently posted about a code 33 problem I was, and am, having. The Maf sensor is acting up. I did replace power burn off sensor, that is on the firewall. The other, I did not. I still drive the car with no problem. The only time the service engine soon light comes on, is when I step on the gas quickly. Then it will come on, and the only thing to do, is pull over, turn off the ignition, and wait for 40 seconds or so. Once restarted...it runs fine. I can also drive the speedlimit as long as I attain the speed gradually, and don't try any quick starts. I am wondering if this might signify a broken or faulty wire somewhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also....I have one bad tire. Do they have to be replaced in pairs, or would it be acceptable to just replace the one that is bad?

hello, bill. you can replace one tire if that is your choice, have done it myself, recently.
as for the maf issue, I have a MAP, not familar with it. my initial thought is that it is not a loose/high resistance connection -unless it is in the maf circuit. I assume the ecm is setting a new 33 code.

Default code 33

On 1985 to 1990 model years code 33 indicated MAF. For 1984 and 1991 through 1993 models code 33 indicated MAP. Bill if your C4 is in the former models years I would check for any air or vacuum leaks and the electrical connections. Also I would go ahead and replace the power relay (you already replaced the burn off relay) Clean the MAF with some carb cleaner (let air dry). See if this keeps the SES light off. Otherwise you may need a new MAF which runs about $200.00 to $300.00. Captainricks
