Default upgrading suspension

I plan on ordering larger anti sway bars front and back, where is the line drawn for too large for street driving, also what is a good brand to look into for anti sway bars and tie rods, $ isnt tight but its not unlimited either, i would like to get the sway bars and tie rods for $600 or less, can it be done using decent parts?

I just put in a 32mm front sway bar from VB&P and I absolutely love it!!! It was around $180. I'm still planning on putting their 26mm in the rear. Right now I get a little off throttle over steer but I know it's there so I just drive accordingly. I think it's still ok for the street....it is a vette. I expect a little stiffer ride in a vette. I ran my car around the track for one event and I think it handles pretty sweet it made a HUGE difference!!! If you call them and talk with the tech (I think his name is Steve) he's real nice and can help you with some ideas!! Good luck and enjoy!!!!!!!

I had the VB&P 32mm front bar on my 84 and was VERY happy with it as well. I'm going to get one and a matching 26mm rear for my 91. Just make sure you use good grease on the bushings, and you'll be good to go.

Of course, after that you'll realize that you need to replace all the rear suspension bushings. They seem to really take a beating unlike the front control arm bushings. My advice there is DON'T use Energy Suspension - go with Prothane. The Energy products seem to have developed "quality creep" and don't fit well at all.

The first suspension mod I did on my Vette, before I even started to autox, was the 32mm front and 26mm rear anti-roll bars from VBandP. Nice mod for even the street. It makes the car feel tighter and decreases roll if you have the FE1 suspension. If you have a Z51 or Z07 suspension, you may not want those larger bars for the street.

In addition to the bigger bars, you may want to consider a more aggressive alignment. The one I put on my C4 without changing any suspension component made the car very neutral and it handles quite nicely. I auto-x so I KNOW what the car does at the limit. I have the stock bars and all.
