Default Auto Shift *****

I want to replace the worn out **** in my 85, but I have little to chose from being its an automatic. However, while searching eBay, I came across ones made by SickSpeed:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/261054405867...=p5197.c0.m619

I checked their site and they have ***** with the C4 logo in them. Apparently you install this adapter and their **** screws onto the adapter. To shift, you just push down on the ****. Has anyone installed one of these in their C4 or other car? If I'm going to spend $40 to $50 for a stock ****, I'd be open to spending the same or a bit more for something different.

Looks interesting, to bad there isn't a better pic of it. After looking at it again it looks like an old style microphone.

I sent them an email to see of they have instructions and / or pics of one installed on a C4. Hopefully, I get some kind of response.

There was a note within that ebay listing ...
"**Please also note: If you shift lever uses a shift boot, the adapter will NOT join directly to it.**

Here are a few alternates....

I saw that note, however, if I get a boot that can go over the adapter, I think I should be ok. I did a Google search and some people had done that on other cars and it looked great. I would just need to know the diameter of the adapter at its widest point so I could get a boot made up matching that diameter, or just stretch the boot's opening out so it could slide over it.

Looking at the ****, and how long it is, I would say your boot will be well below it, and it wouldn't show right till you make special boot that would cover the shaft.

I sent my **** to holster, and have the color match my interior, and had him make me new boot.

Agreed. I emailed someone at Redline and they would make me a boot once I gave them the measurements. I don't know how far down on the shifter rod the adapter goes, so I can see it not looking so hot if I can't hide the adapter under the boot.

Do you have a website for holster? I'd like to see what they have to offer.

I really like the Flameball one though, I might be getting that one instead.

I once ordered flameball, and it was easy installation, but the boot showed little shaft, so decided to take another route.
I guess you can ask local people who shops who can make boot, but you will need sample. So get ready to pull the boot.

The boot is the least of my worries as I know I can get one made. Hopefully, the people from SickSpeed get back to me with the dimensions and specs of that adapter so I can figure out how much higher it will make the shifter and whether the boot's collar will fit over it.

Slides over the stock shifter and then tighten the screw. The boot is from Redline and in that pic I cut an inch and a half off the shifter.

How hard, or easy, was it to cut the shifter?
