for anybody interested, the book "Corvette Specs 84-96" has some background on the Malcolm Konner Corvettes. It says there were 50 produced specially for Malcolm Konnor Chevrolet (now out of business). It was essentially a paint treatment: Silver Beige over Black, special hood and fuel door emblems, dealer installed painted wheels and a radar detector.
From the Black Book - Fifty "Malcolm Konner Commemorative Edition" 1986 Corvettes were built in a special arrangement honoring the New Jersey Chevrolet dealership's founder, Malcolm Konner. Each corvette had special two-tone paint schemes, Silver Beige over Black, coded "spec." Window stickers reflected 4001ZA as the RPO, and a $500 cost for MALCOLM KONNER SP. EDIT. PAI. All were coupes, twenty with manual transmissions, thirty with automatics. All had graphite leather interiors. One was retrofitted with a Callaway twin-turbo engine.
• The Malcolm Konner Special Edition Corvettes (all coupes) were built by special arrangement with the Malcolm Konner Chevrolet Dealership in New Jersey in order to commemorate the dealership's founder, Malcolm Konner. The option consisted of a special silver-beige on black two-tone paint scheme and graphite leather interior. This option was reflected on the window sticker as RPO 4001ZA --$500.00 cost for MALCOLM KONNER SP. EDIT. PAI.
• Coupes were equipped with RPO Z51 handling package, sport seats, power driver's seat, Delco Bose stereo, and a bronze tinted clear top. All Malcolm Konner special edition Corvettes came with graphite colored interior.
• Production: Only 50 Corvettes were built with this special option. 20 were built with manual 4-speed transmissions, 30 with automatics. Ten coupes and ten convertibles were built with RPO Z51 heavy duty suspensions. One of the Malcolm Konner Special Edition Corvettes became the first Callaway twin-turbo engine conversion.
• Gary Konner, Malcolm Konner's son who worked at the family dealership, owns one of these special Corvettes.
