I was looking at some fleabay listings, and it appears the side mirror GLASS is identical for the following:
82-92 Chevy Camaro, Pontiac Firebird,
84-96 Corvette, 78-88 Monte Carlo,
86-87 Sprint, El Camino, 84-88 Pont. Fiero

I would have assumed the question was for the "mirror assembly" and NOT a glass!
I'll specify then which mirror assemblies are "direct replacements"?

They are similar, but I don't think they are interchangeable (95% sure).

That was my impression as well. I don't think the assemblies are interchangeable.

the glass may be the same but I think the base where it mounts to door is different. and for your monte carlo listing that would be 1986-1988. 78-85 used the small "sport mirror"
