Just got home this morning from my 15-hour, 900 mile drive from picking up my new Corvette. For the trip I averaged 29.2 mpg (!) doing mostly 70 mph.
Even after all that driving I'm still itching for more! I don't remember the seats being this comfortable, I wasn't sore at all.
It's a '95 coupe, 6-speed, both tops, red/black. Had 17k, upto 18k now It also came with the original bill of sale, interior warning stickers/labels and all service records, a very well documented car.
Tires are a bit dry rotted (they are original), and the reverse light switch needs to be replaced.
Need to get some tires and change all the fluids before I do anymore driving. Hopefully I'll get some pics up this week!

First off... congrats on a great sounding creampuff.
Your first choice should have purchased new tires on BEFORE the drive home. Have you considered those dry-rotted original tire blowing out at highway speeds... you endangered not only yourself... all the other cars you passed too on your trip home.
Should have trailered it home... get those tires, first priority.

Not a good idea driving that distance, at those speeds, on dry rotted original tires. Now for your punishment, change out that reverse light switch yourself, bet you'll buy new tires FIRST next time.
Nevermind these guys and their lecturing about the tires. You did say "a bit dry rotted" after all. Most Vettes are stored indoors so I doubt the risk was impending doom as some speculate. Congrats on the car, hope to see the pics soon.

What is the difference? You're talking about 17 year old tires here. Driving anything that distance at those speeds is not safe, period. I'm not looking to argue, just stating a fact.

Let the car next to you have a blowout, and veer into your lane, because they were driving on dry-rotted tires, and see if you still think that it was OK because the car was stored indoors. Lousy rationalization right there.
The guy kept the car in a climate controlled garage, the front tires are fine, but the rears have a bit. If I'm going to replace tires I figure replace all 4. If they were really bad, I definitely would've replaced them before leaving town.
