Default red corvette

I took my son to I hop this morning maybe 3 sets of people inside. Then I hear a waitress call to her coworkers Did you see my new red corvette in the parking lot. I had to stop and look. She was talking about my car. I ask so you have one too. She said I wish I could have one. People still think these cars cost a lot of money. I will tell you if a water guy for the city of groveland can have a corvette then anybody that works can. Then I stopped at ractrac to put the top up and I had people come up and tell me how good the car sounds. Made my day. Because in groveland there is nothing but 4wd jacked up trucks. I always say we have nothing but horse sh-- and gun powder.

True, anybody can afford to BUY one. But unless they spin their own wrenches too, keeping one running is where it gets dicey on low wages. Labor is upwards of $100 an hour these days. Price out replacing an opti and water pump at your local Chevy dealer these days. Could be 1/3 of what you paid for the car.

Cool that people still appreciate them though.

You will find these cars broken down (with the windows down in the rain) in the driveways of many who could afford the initial purchase but could not wrench or afford to get them fixed.

Cool story from the OP. C4 Corvette in good condition still attract attention because the public in general can't really tell what year the Vette is unless it is an early Vette to C3 Vette.

My 86 for a so called red headed stepchild does well for herself. Two weeks ago at a local car show a gentleman had his wife take a picture of him in front of my car with his thumbs up. A few weeks prior, as I was leaving another car show, a cute teenager/early twenties girl yelled out she liked my car.

I get the wow reaction from friends and family members when they hear I have a Corvette. Its still kind of cool they are appreciated. The kids at the local car shows still love it and always want to take pictures or get inside. I agree with others here, they are cheap to purchase, but if you can't maintain it yourself, its a losing battle. If I couldn't do my own wrenching, I would of never gotten one. I tell people all the time when they ask if they should get one that if they can't fix it themselves and are not prepared for the bills, buy a Honda.
