Hi there just bought my vette and wondered how people feel about vette clubs. Also is anyone here near the Moline, IL or Davenport, IA area? Plus any good way to find the vette clubs in my area? thanks
You could click on the hyperlink on the right colum of the corvetteforum page which says "Corvette Clubs". Also the National Corvette Museum website also has a hyperlink to Corvette Clubs, it is a huge database. Hope this helps. By the way, clubs are great.
Congratulations. Corvette Clubs are just like any other groups of people, some are good, some are crap. Go to a few meetings of the clubs in your area, and then you can decide if you like them or not. No need to join until you've had a chance to meet everyone.
Thanks all. Loving the vette so far, have wanted one since I was a kid. Sgould have got one as my first car but it was a little out of my price range. Ended up with a 300zx(the *** corvette as i call it hehe, just way less power). So far these two weeks have been a blast. Will take your advice and try to find a few of the local clubs and join them for a meeting or two to meet all the members.
Attend cruise-in's, if there is a club in the area they will be there. If you don't have one close by just start your own! :yesnod: Show that car off because it's fun!!
There is one in the area. He took your advice and posted in the Great Lakes section. Fortunately, I check it from time to time. We have about 85 really nice members in our club. :seeya

That's a great approach! You'll find different clubs have VERY different personalities. Find one that fits with YOUR corvette desires/goals/attitude...and have fun! :D
Oh...and Welcome to the Forum...and congrats on the Vette!
I am on the board of my local club. I enjoy it, the activites, and the people. Somtimes it can get political...but I just do the things I want/can do, and when it gets too much, I just take a step back. You won't regret checking it out, and I bet you join.
Yeah, some clubs are probably good, but some are bad too. Last year I was really interested in joining a local San Diego club so found the local Corvette Owners Club of San Diego. On my own, I went to 3-4 of their meetings and 3-4 club events......but.......not one member EVER came up to me and introduced themselves to me. Maybe being from the Midwest, I'm not ready for rude Californians, but I was very disappointed in this clubs attitude toward prospective memebers. Obviously, I never went back again.
Now, I consider the Corvette Forum to be my "club". I've learned so much, and also contributed my 2 cents worth to threads also.
Ask other Vette ownes that you run into. Get all the opinions that you can.
Good luck,

Re: Clubs (fixvet)
I was going to join a club up here in Seattle, but for them a great day is driving in a parade, or sitting in a parking lot staring at their cars. I bought my car to race so i didn't fit in. CF is the best "club" I have found yet. :yesnod:
