My 89 with 118,000 miles has been giving me alot of trouble lately. I have to crank it over for several seconds to start it. Once started it barely stays running. It wont go above 2500 RPM no matter the position of the throttle.
In the last 500 miles I have replaced the distributor cap and rotor, coil, air filter, fuel filter, and cleaned the MAF.
Could be low fuel pressure. Check it at key-on and while running. Should be roughly 40 PSI.
You can check the fuel pressure regulator by removing the vacuum hose while the engine is running. The pressure should go up to about 50 PSI (this test simulates low vacuum at WOT).
