I have a 96 with a new battery. Took the car out the other day and the lights were dim. Volt meter on dash showed only 11 volts. checked voltage at alternator today and it was only 11 volts. Looks like i may need a new alternator, but i Thought i would checked and see if there is anything else that could cause the low output. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Mike

HI Mike and welcome to the forum. You will quickly find that there is a deep well of knowledge here. As far as alternators go most will recommend you take yours to an automotive electrical shop and have it rebuilt. This is generally the most cost effective method plus you know exactly what was done.

I would add, do a little homework on the rebuilder shop; we used to have a guy around here who couldn't rebuild a flashlight, but he managed to hang on for some time... bet he never got any repeat business.
